PROFESSOR DR. ABD KARIM ALIAS (Lead Facilitator)
He is a professor of food technology with over 24 years of experiences in teaching and learning and current Director of the Centre for Development of Academic Excellence, Universiti Sains Malaysia. He is currently responsible to design and run a professional development programme in technology-enhanced learning and student-centred learning for the academic staff. He is also involved as a trainer for numerous workshops especially on using technology in teaching and learning. He is now leading a project to develop Open Educational Resources (OER) for the university and so far has succeeded to produce more than 20 course-wares. He is also a co-Chairman of the Technical Committee for Malaysian MOOCs initiative, a project by the Ministry of Education. Dr Karim’s expertise has won him the inaugural USM Excellence Educator Award and he was also the recipient of the prestigious National Academic Award for teaching. He has published more than 130 publications in international citation-indexed journals, books and encyclopedia chapters. |
PROFESSOR DR. NOR AZIAH ALIAS
She is the Director of Academic Development in the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Dr Aziah’s objective is to utilize existing knowledge and skills in the field of instructional technology and online/distance learning via research and expert consultancy. Her main fields of interest are Instructional Design and Technology (IDT) and ICT for Development (ICT4D), Technology enhanced learning environment, Learner support in Online and Distance Learning and Design and development research in Instructional Technology. She received her Bachelors (1984) and Masters degrees (1986) in the field of Physics, respectively, from Indiana University, Bloomington, USA. In year 1998, she received a Graduate Certificate in Open & Distance Learning from USQ, Australia. She received her PhD degree in Instructional Technology from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Malaysia in 2007. Dr Aziah won Best IIUM PhD (Education) Student Award, Dissertation Award from the Malaysian Educational Technology Association and Academic Excellence Award from KOSMA, Pahang, Malaysia. She also received an International Research Fellowship Grant (Amy Mahan Research Fellowship) – IDRC Canada in year 2010. She is part of the National committees of E–Learning Guidelines and Orange Playbook – Differentiated Career Pathways for Malaysian Higher Education (MOHE). Her books and articles have been published with Springer, IGI Global, Copenhagen Business Press, Information Age Publishing, MIT Press and SAGE. |
ASSOC. PROF. DR. AZIDAH ABU ZIDEN
She is a Senior Lecturer in School of Educational Studies, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). She is currently the Deputy Director of the Centre for Development of Academic Excellence (CDAE), USM. She obtained her PhD in Higher Education (Instructional Design – E-learning) from University of Canterbury, New Zealand in 2008 and has been working in USM since then. Assoc Prof Dr Azidah’s research interests are in Instructional Design specifically in the e-learning and m-learning environment, Educational Technology, ICT & Multimedia and 21st Century teaching & learning. Her expertise includes Instructional Design in Learning Management System (LMS) and using Web 2.0 to enhance teaching and learning. She is the Coordinator for Program Pensiswazahan Guru (PPG), USM since 2011. Dr Azidah has received various award including University of Canterbury Research Award (2004-2006), Most Innovative Content Award (Hybrid Category) USM in 2012 and Teaching and Supervising Award 2016 by School of Educational Studies USM. She has also received various awards in teaching and learning competition nationally. As a USM Master Trainer, she conducts trainings to USM lecturers in the area of instructional design, e-learning approaches and tools, as well as new approaches of teaching and learning. She also conducted Training of Trainers (ToT) and Training on Demand (ToD) sessions nationally and internationally to cater the need for specific courses and institutions. Dr Azidah is the recipient Teaching Award for the prestigious Malaysia National Academic Award 2017. Her achievement has gone internationally when she was selected as a GOLD winner for Best Learning Model (Blended) in LearnX Impact Award 2018 was held in Melbourne Convention Centre, Australia. |
ASSOC. PROF. DR. MUHAMAD SAIFUL BAHRI YUSOFF
He is a senior lecturer in Department of Medical Education, School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia, a medical doctor with Master degree and PhD in Medical Education. He has conducted researches related to medical student well-being, mental health, psychometric, validity, reliability, development of measurement tool, scholarship of teaching and learning, student personal & professional development, personality, emotional intelligence, student admission and assessment. With more than 100 publications in various local and international Medical Education journals, he has been accepted among his peers as a key figure in medical education. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Education in Medicine Journal and serves as a reviewer to various journals such as Medical Education, Clinical Psychological Journal, Medical Teacher, MedEdPORTAL, Medical Journal of Malaysia, ASEAN Journal of Teaching & Learning in Higher Education Journal, BMC Medical Education, International Journal of Students Research and many more. He has been invited as a speaker for conferences, seminars and workshops related to teaching and learning, student assessment, PBL, development of psychological measurement, study skills, student admission, and interviewing skills that involved medical educators, allied health educators, students and public. In June 2014, he completed a one-year medical education editorial internship program provided by Editorial Board of Medical Education Journal, Association for Study in Medical Education (ASME), United Kingdom. A number of awards have been to his credit: Reimagine Education Teaching Delivery Award 2016, Best Award and Gold Medal for International Innovative Practices in Higher Education 2016, Gold Medal for Innovative Practices in Higher Education Award 2014 and Ronald Harden Innovation in Medical Education Award 2013. |
DR. ZAINAL ARIFFIN AHMAD
He is a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia. He is a Certified Professional Coach under the International Association of Coaching (IAC) and Management Member of the IAC Malaysia Branch. He served as Professor at the Graduate Business School in UNITEN (2010-2015) after retiring as Associate Professor from the Graduate School of Business, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Presently, he does advocacy work on children with learning disabilities under the Challenges Foundation. Dr Zainal also serves as an Associate Member of the Centre of Social Innovation, Universiti Teknologi Petronas, and External Assessor for Wawasan Open University. He is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Human Resource Management (MIHRM) and Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) (until 2015). He is Development Panel Expert on the National Occupational Skills Standard (NOSS) for TVET management and development under the Ministry of Human Resources. Since 1989, Professor Zainal has had 27 years’ experiences in teaching, training and consultancy at Northern Illinois University (Programming & Activities), Universiti Sains Malaysia (School of Management, Graduate School of Business), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (Graduate Business School), and Malaysian Multimedia University (School of Management). He headed the OB/Human Development Lab in USM, an experimental research laboratory for behaviour and learning before focusing on neuroscience as the BRAIN (Business Research and Innovation in Neuroscience) Lab. In 2007, Dr. Zainal was awarded Outstanding Educators Award 2007 at Universiti Sains Malaysia and recipient of the Anugerah Akademik Negara (National Academic Award in Teaching) in 2008. As past recipient of the AAN, he served on the Selection Committee from 2010 to 2015. He has presented keynote address at several international conferences. Dr. Zainal has been an active researcher and headed or was involved in 34 grants in the areas of learning, human resource management, ergo-quality, and quality in higher education and public services (TQM/ISO 9000). After retirement, he has been involved in research on national R&D activities, nursing disaster preparedness and socio-economic impact of the oil and gas industry in the East Coast Malaysia and Sarawak. He is a lifetime member of the Qualitative Research Association Malaysia (QRAM). |
DR. ROSEMALIZA MOHD KAMALLUDEEN
She is an educator at the Kulliyyah of Education, International Islamic University Malaysia. She holds a PhD. in Career and Technical Education from Virginia Polytechnic and State University, USA. She received her M.Ed. from the International Islamic University Malaysia in Instructional Technology and a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from NYU Polytechnic, USA. Dr Rosemaliza was a Senior Project Management and Sales Engineer at Panasonic Systems Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd for 6 years before she ventured into the education and training industry out of passion. She served as a teacher in the private education sector for 4 years, and is currently a faculty member in the Instructional Technology unit at the Kulliyyah of Education, IIUM. She is also a proud member of the Professional Learning Facilitators (PLF) family and a certified SOIF coach. Dr Rosemaliza actively conducts learning events in instructional technology & strategies, English Language culture-building programme, self-motivation & team development, and is also an accredited learning facilitator for the Take Charge! Professional Learning Facilitation System. |
ZAID ALI ALSAGOFF
Zaid Ali Alsagoff is the e-Learning Manager and Fellow of the Centre for Medical Education at the International Medical University. He is most known beyond IMU for his widely read e-learning blog ZaidLearn and his creatively designed presentations on SlideShare. His presentations have been viewed more than 1.6 million times by people from 200+ countries, and he has around 15,000 followers on SlideShare. In 2013, he was ranked the No. 1 e-Learning Mover and Shaker in the World. He also organized the first 1-day online seminar held by a Malaysian University on the 22 May, 2013. In 2012, he hosted the first webinar series to the public by a Malaysian University, which had world renowned speakers in online education. The production cost for this webinar series was zero ringgit. In 2008, he was part of the first evaluation team to audit and evaluate universities in Saudi Arabia for their e-learning implementations. He is also an AKEPT trainer and a member of the National e-Learning and MOOC Committees (under KPM) in Malaysia. |
HJ. AHMAD SALWAN B. ABDUL WAHAB
Ahmad Salwan is a passionate learner who loves to share and inspire others to learn new knowledge and skills in life (eg. learning about learning). He is a staunch believer in the value of lifelong learning and the ‘happiness of giving’. He also believes every experience is an opportunity to learn and grow. Being a Certified Neuro Linguistic Practitioner, he uses NLP every day… in his own lives and also with others. He always practices NLP techniques combined with Accelerated Learning Methodology and VARK Learning Strategies during learning session.
